撮影が終了したばかりの本作から、佐藤浩市、渡辺謙が登壇。
撮影現場の様子、本作への思いなどを語りました。

The first press conference of “Fukushima 50” was held in Tokyo on April 17, 2019. Koichi Sato and Ken Watanabe participated in it and told about the shooting just finished in this April.

It is the latest feature film directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu (The Unbroken, Whiteout). Koichi Sato (Terminal, Whiteout, and Unforgiven) and Academy Award nominee Ken Watanabe (Inception, Letters from Iwo Jima, Godzilla, The Last Samurai) headline the cast.
The film is based on the book ‘On the Brink: The Inside Story of Fukushima Daiichi’ by Ryusho Kadota and recounts the aftermath of the Great East Japan earthquake, the tsunami and ensuing meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The film follows the 50 workers – including Shift Supervisor Izaki (Koichi Sato) and Site Superintendent Yoshida (Ken Watanabe) – who risked their lives and stayed at the plant to prevent total destruction of the overheating reactors and minimise devastation.
“Fukushima 50” will be released in 2020.
